Vairocana is a celestial Buddha often considered a central figure in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism. He is regarded as the embodiment of the Dharmakaya, which represents the ultimate truth and the cosmic aspect of the Buddha. Vairocana is sometimes seen as the universal or primordial Buddha from whom all other Buddhas emanate.                                                     

In various Buddhist traditions, Vairocana is depicted in different forms and iconographies, often shown seated on a lotus throne and performing specific mudras (hand gestures). He is also a central figure in several important Buddhist texts and rituals, particularly within the esoteric practices of Vajrayana Buddhism.   Vairocana’s significance is especially prominent in the Avatamsaka Sutra (Flower Garland Sutra) and the Mahavairocana Tantra, where he is portrayed as a source of enlightenment and wisdom, guiding practitioners towards the realization of their own Buddha-nature.
